Monday, May 8, 2017: Learn How to Effectively Navigate Networking 1:1
While networking can be super powerful it can also be very nerve-wracking and cause many of us to feel overwhelmed. At this YNPN event we'll share tips and tools so that you can learn how to walk away from 1:1, small group and large group networking events feeling accomplished, proud and empowered! Practicing simple tools such as active listening, learning the A.S.K. concept and striking a power pose are just a few tools you’ll learn so that your confidence goes up and you can begin to see results from the time and energy you’re putting into networking.
At this YNPN event you’ll learn and have the opportunity to practice:
- A scientifically proven body language exercise that reduces stress so you can be 100% present while networking.
- 1:1 networking etiquette
- The powerful mindset of, "What can I give/offer" rather than, "What am I going to get out of this meeting?"
- The differences between Active Listening and Passive Listening and the huge role body language plays in building strong connections.
- Strategic follow-up tools to ensure a high level of professionalism so that you can continue building meaningful and relevant relationships.

In a competitive nonprofit job market, a great resume is an important tool for job seekers to get their foot in the door for an interview. The workshop catered to nonprofit professionals is presented by a professional with a background in both resume writing and hiring within the nonprofit and higher education sectors. It will allow participants to evaluate their current resume and incorporate innovative strategies to market themselves in a way that effectively speaks to employers across all industries.
Rachel Pavelko is a Certified Professional Resume Writer, owner of Rachel Resume Results, LLC and works full time in a career services program at the Community College of Denver. Pavelko has helped nearly 1000 job seekers write resumes over the past nine years.

Have another event coming up? Need help funding a new addition to your nonprofit? Sounds like you may need some business sponsors.
In this workshop, Allison Parks of Conscious Real Estate will help you identify which businesses are likely to sponsor you. She will help you gain clarity on what businesses are looking for in a non-profit sponsorship and discuss what will motivate a business to sponsor an organization. Once you have some ideas how to entice a business, you can consider some additional (and fun) ways that you can customize your offerings to showcase the personality of YOUR nonprofit. Finally, you will learn how to keep your sponsors happy once you have secured the sponsorship, so the businesses will be more likely to continue sponsoring you in the future.
