Board of Directors

YNPN Denver's Board of Directors is an active group of volunteers providing guidance for programs and shaping the development of the organization.  Each Board member brings a passion for YNPN Denver's mission and a personal connection to the nonprofit sector.  Because YNPN Denver is an all-volunteer organization, the Board, in conjunction with Board-driven committees and volunteers, is responsible for creating and implementing all of the organization's programs and services.


 


Sarah Fischler, President

Organization: Community Resource Center

As the Director of Consulting and Special Projects at the Community Resource Center, Sarah helps nonprofit organizations with organizational effectiveness, strategic direction, governance, fundraising, and strategies for utilizing online communication tools.  Previously, Sarah spent almost a year as CRC’s Interim Co-Director, overseeing programs, fundraising, and external relations.  Before coming to CRC, Sarah was the Director of Grantmaking and Mission Initiatives for the Denver Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure where she oversaw the distribution of nearly $10 million in funding and led the development of a nationally recognized grantmaking program.  Sarah served as the Drafting Committee Chair for the effort to revise the Colorado Common Grant Application and is Co-Chaired the Colorado Common Grant Report Form Revision Committee.  Sarah graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor of arts in history, a bachelor of science in business administration, and recently completed her master’s degree in public administration.  Sarah's interests include backpacking, hiking, travel, and landscape photography.



 

 

 

 

 



Alyssa Lasseter, Vice President 

Organization: Tony Grampsas Youth Services Program, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment

Alyssa Lasseter currently serves as the Director of the Tony Grampsas Youth Services Program at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.  Previously Alyssa was at Mile High United Way for seven years with positions including temporary fundraiser, administrative assistant, community specialist, community investment manager and senior program manager - government relations.  Responsibilities in these positions ranged from fundraising to volunteer management to public policy and many others in between. While at Mile High United Way she was able to work with a variety of health and human services organizations.  Her personal passion for children and youth has helped to guide growth in career opportunities.  As a volunteer Alyssa has mentored youth, organized groups of friends for many events, and served as treasurer of a small grassroots non-profit working with groups throughout El Salvador.

 

Tangia Al-awaji, Secretary

Organization: Goodwill Industries

Tangia currently serves as Assistance Manager of Career Development Services overseeing a program that helps low-income families transition from public assistance to self-sufficiency. Tangia graduated from Metro State College with a degree in Political Science and is currently working on a Masters of Nonprofit Management at Regis University. She first became involved in the nonprofit field as a college student working in a program to fight housing descrimination and as a volunteer with the Latina Initiative. Since college, she has continued to be an active volunteer and supporter of several Denver based nonprofits. Tangia is a graduate of the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Cirlce of Latina Leadership Program. She has also servered as Secretary for the YNPN Board of Directors. Tangia is passionate about the Colorado outdoors and international travel, having spent significant time in Egypt, Saudia Arabia, and Mexico.

 

Lydia McCoy, Board Member at-Large

Organization: Colorado Children's Immunization Coalition

As Executive Director, Lydia has led the Colorado Children's Immunization Coalition’s efforts to promote vaccination in communities, businesses, and state government since 2007. Lydia was previously the Capital Campaign Coordinator for The Gathering Place, and has experience working in fund development and program management for art education, public radio, and child welfare nonprofits in New Orleans and Denver. Lydia has a BA in Political Science from Tulane University and a Master of Nonprofit Management from Regis University. Recently, she has served on the Strategic Planning Committee for Regis University’s MNM program, the Governance Task Force for the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative, the  Board of Directors of the Colorado Nonprofit Association, was a Fellow with Social Venture Partners Denver, and participated in the El Pomar Nonprofit Executive Leadership Program. She currently sits on the Governor’s Vaccine Advisory Committee for Colorado, on the Board of the Colorado Nonprofit Association, and is immediate past President of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN Denver). She also enjoys the occasional onomatopoeia. Pow!


 


Lauren Croucher, Board Member at-Large

Organization: Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance

Lauren Croucher is the Human Trafficking Project Manager at the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance. She has worked in the nonprofit field for the last four years in several different areas, including program management, development, and capacity building. In addition to the YNPN Board, she serves as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and for the Rape Assistance and Awareness Program. Lauren graduated with a Bachelor's degree in chemistry from Hanover College in Hanover, IN and spent a year in Istanbul, Turkey studying water chemistry and Middle Eastern history. She is currently working on her Masters in Public Health at the Colorado School of Public Health. She spends her free time snowboarding, gardening and walking her dogs.



 

 


Jeremy Duhon, Board Member at-Large, Chair - Professional Development Committee

Organization: Denver Investment Advisors

Jeremy currently works as a Vice President, Research Analyst (International Equities) for Denver Investment Advisors.  Previously, he was a Senior Fellow with El Pomar Foundation in Colorado Springs where he helped direct the El Pomar Youth in Community Service (EPYCS) Program and the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) Program.  During that time, he also served as the Executive Manager of the Center for International Exchange - U.S., a nonprofit which promotes U.S.-Japan relations.  He is a past President of YNPN Denver and served on the board of National YNPN.  He is a Founding Director of the Pueblo Opportunity Fund, a donor-advised fund committed to improving the lives of current and future citizens of his hometown of Pueblo, CO.  He graduated with a B.A. in Neuroscience from Pomona College.




 






Adeeb Khan, Board Member at-Large, Board Member of National YNPN

Organization: Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross

Adeeb Khan joined the American Red Cross, Mile High Chapter in 2007 and currently serves as the Regional Director of Health & Safety and Community Services.  He supervises team of 12 staff and over 300 dedicated volunteers.  The Health and Safety Program brings lifesaving CPR, AED, first aid and lifeguard training to 70,000 Coloradans each year.  Khan also manages the chapter's Transportation Program which provides over 24,000 rides annually to the elderly and ill in the Denver metro area. Khan is launching the Save a Life Denver Program which will place over 1,000 Automated External Defibrillators throughout the city.  The program will work in collaboration with private and public partners to establish one of the largest public access defibrillation programs in the country.  Furthermore, the initiative will train a total of 10,000 individuals with CPR and AED skills where the devices are placed.In addition to his work with the Red Cross, Khan serves the community of Denver in a variety of capacities. He is a member of the Denver Regional Mobility and Access Council and a recent graduate of the University of Colorado's Denver Community Leadership Forum class of 2009.  Khan graduated from the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Southern California.  He is happily married to his wife, Heidi, and spends his free time with either a camera or a basketball in his hand.

 




Jessica Khan, Board Member at-Large, Chair - Member Relations Committee

Organization: Project PAVE

Jessica Khan is the Development Director for Project PAVE, an organization that works to empower youth to end the cycle of relationship violence.  She is skilled in program management, fundraising, member recruitment, training and technical assistance, coalition building, event planning and marketing. Jessica has more than ten years experience in the nonprofit sector advocating for sexual and domestic violence prevention.  She has served as the Membership Services Director for the Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and as a victim advocate/case manager in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she lived for six years before moving to Denver.  Jessica holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism.  She has worked in broadcast media and production, including a Missouri NBC-affiliate and the London bureau of ABC News. Her passions are photography and international travel; she has spent significant time in eighteen different countries including Morocco, Thailand, Indonesia, Spain and Mexico.

 



 




Patrick Sablich, Board Member at-Large, Chair - Outreach Committee

Organization: Colorado Public Health Association


Patrick Sablich currently serves as the Executive Director of the Colorado Public Health Association.  CPHA is a state-wide membership organization that connects public health professionals and advocates on their behalf.  This position matches his entrepreneurial energy with his experience in nonprofit management to benefit the Colorado public health community.  Patrick is also the Founder of Sporting Philanthropy, an organization that works with professional athletes to strengthen their legacies through community giving and engagement. Before founding Sporting Philanthropy, Patrick was a Program Officer with the U.S. Golf Association as a member of their Fellowship in Leadership and Service.  He also served as the first Executive Director of Jeremy Bloom’s Wish of a Lifetime, which exists to enrich the lives of low-income seniors. Most recently Patrick worked as the Managing Director of Healthbridge Alliance, which offered secondary trauma resiliency training throughout Colorado.  Patrick holds Bachelor Degrees in Public Policy and Business with concentrations in Community Development and Entrepreneurship. He continued to pursue these academic interests having studied Social Entrepreneurship at University of Colorado, Denver Business School. Patrick is originally from the Chicago area and currently lives in Denver.






Imelda Unibe, Board Member at-Large

Organization: Teach for America - Colorado

Imelda Unibe currently serves as the Director, State and District Strategy for Teach for America – Colorado.  In this role she works to ensure that the organization’s growth strategy, relationships with partner schools and districts, and corps member placement maximizes the opportunity for student achievement in the region and best positions Teach For America as a force for change.  Previously, she worked for Mile High United Way, where she built partnerships and developed a strategic plan to lead the Youth Mentoring Collaborative in its efforts to improve the quality of mentoring opportunities for youth and increase the access for youth who can benefit from these services.  She has prior experience teaching at a school serving low-income youth in East Palo Alto, CA in subjects ranging from Kindergarten to eighth grade algebra, supervising parental involvement, and managing out of school time opportunities to supplement student’s classroom learning.  Imelda holds a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University and a M.Ed. in School Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
